چکیده

Shallow foundations are very distinctive in Bhutan since construction of buildings regulated to 7-8 story and the superstructure loads not high compared high-rise elsewhere. However, safety depends primarily on stability subsoil. This can be evaluated by estimating Ultimate Bearing Capacity (UBC) it is measure subsoil strength. In current study, field test such as Plate Load Test (PLT) Standard Penetration (SPT) conducted study area which most common conventional methods adopted given typology infrastructures. Detail analysis performed for PLT SPT data collected from southern parts assess shear characteristics The exploration was carried out at embedment depth 1.5 m both tests. directly provides UBC through load settlement plot. With N-values, estimated square footing using empirical correlations proposed Terzaghi 1943 Meyerhof 1963. results comprehend design parameters. Both in-situ resulted close estimation UBC. SPT, indicate Meyerhof's correlation more conservative suggesting safe economical foundation design. parametric deduce validate among parameters used. lithology reviewed belt resistivity profiles underlying strata region have been reported similar investigation this study.

Comparision of Methods for Determining Bearing Capacity of Piles Using Standard Penetration Test (SPT) Data

In recent years, determining bearing capacity of piles from in-situ testing data as a complement to static and dynamic analysis has been used by geotechnical engineers. In this paper, different approaches for estimating bearing capacity of piles from SPT data are studied and compared. A new method based on N value from SPT is presented. Data averaging, &#10failure zone and plunging failure of p...

Relevance vector machine and multivariate adaptive regression spline for modelling ultimate capacity of pile foundation

This study examines the capability of the Relevance Vector Machine (RVM) and Multivariate Adaptive Regression Spline (MARS) for prediction of ultimate capacity of driven piles and drilled shafts. RVM is a sparse method for training generalized linear models, while MARS technique is basically an adaptive piece-wise regression approach. In this paper, pile capacity prediction models are developed...
